Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Vancouver

Arrive Vancouver

Arrive in Vancouver on your scheduled flight from London Heathrow. Pick up your hertz rental car and drive to accommodation. Overnight in Vancouver.

 


Day 2 - Vancouver to Clinton (354 km/219 mi)

Vancouver to Clinton (354 km/219 mi)

This morning depart Vancouver along the scenic Sea to Ski Highway to Whistler. Highlights along the way include the cascading Shannon Falls and the Stawamus Chief Rock where climbers from all over the globe migrate to climb the granite cliffs. Continue on to Whistler where a stop is a must for a short stroll through this charming alpine resort before continuing on the Duffey Lake Road where you will see breathtaking views of Joffee Glacier. Continue on through Lillooet for 2 hours along highway 97 to Echo Valley Ranch near Clinton.

Day 3 - Echo Valley Ranch

Day 5 - Clinton to Jasper (512 km/318 mi)

Today, follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus to the snowy peaks of the Monashee Mountains. View Pyramid Falls and the expansive glaciers of the Albreda Icefields. Pass by Mount Robson, which is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,972 feet); then on to the resort town of Jasper, for a 2 night stay at Jasper Park Lodge. Set deep in the Canadian Rockies, Jasper Park Lodge embodies the peace, tranquility and natural beauty that make these parks so famous. Whether you are looking for a relaxing day by the pool or a beautiful horse back ride into the mountains, this deluxe lodge is the place to stay.

Day 6 - Jasper Exploring

Today, explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Take a tram ride up Whistlers Mountain or a boat cruise on Maligne Lake, in the evening soak in the pools at Miette Hot Springs, and watch the sunset over Pyramid and Patricia lakes (not included).

Day 7 - Jasper to Banff (292 km/182 mi)

Your scenic drive today takes you through the spine of the Canadian Rockies. View a never-ending procession of mammoth mountains, jagged peaks, over 100 glaciers and pristine emerald colour lakes. Along the way see such sights as the Columbia Icefield and take an Ice Explorer ride out onto the glacier (included). Also watch for the Sarbach Glacier, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, with the Bow Glacier providing the backdrop, and Crowfoot Glacier before your arrival into Lake Louise. From Lake Louise choose the Bow Valley Parkway, beside the Bow River with an option for you to take a stop at Johnston Canyon and walk along the paved footway to either the lower or upper waterfalls before continuing to Banff.

Please note: Mountain lakes in this region will be frozen through to mid June

  • Cave & Basin National Historic Site
    The birthplace of Canada's National Parks System. Visitors can walk into the Cave and learn the fascinating story of the springs' discovery. Historical exhibits, geological displays, and videos tell the park's history. Explore the effect of heated spring water on the surrounding marshes and the flora and the fauna. Interpretive displays, self-guided trails accessible year-round.
  • Banff Park Museum
    One of Canada's oldest and grandest Natural History Museums. This turn of the century museum displays an extensive collection of birds, mammals, insects, and curiosities of Banff National Park. The site is well known for its fine wood architecture. It also offers a reading room plus a hands-on discovery room.

Day 8 - Banff Exploring

A full day to explore Banff and area. In town you'll find lots of excitement - shopping, cafes, nightlife, museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Banff Gondola (Included) where you will see a panoramic view of the Bow Valley, and then take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the Upper Hot Springs.

Day 9 - Banff to Emerald Lake (93 km/60 mi)

A short drive today through majestic mountain passes into Yoho National Park. The word Yoho is the Cree word expressing awe. This 1313 sq. km (507 sq. miles) national park is filled with gem coloured glacial lakes and waterfalls, snow-covered peaks and dense forests of western red cedar and western hemlock. Historic railroads, spiral tunnels within mountain sides and steep rock faces where mountain goats roam are just some of the sights to be seen. Other Yoho marvels include a natural rock bridge over the Kicking Horse River, Hoodoos, some of Canada's highest waterfalls and the Burgess Shale fossil find where over 120 marine animal species dating back as far as 530 million years were discovered.

Day 10 - Emerald Lake Lodge

Emerald Lake Lodge Built of hand-hewn timber and featuring massive stone fireplaces, the Lodge includes a formal dining room, quiet reading and sitting rooms. From the upper or lower large verandahs, enjoy the serene views of this wilderness landscape.

Day 11 - Emerald Lake to Lac Le Jeune (541 km/336 mi)

Your journey today takes you through some of the most spectacular stretches of highway in Canada. Follow the Kicking Horse Pass, which takes you to the Rogers Pass and onto the beautiful shorelines of Shuswap Lake, home to Canada's largest sockeye salmon spawn to the south fork of the Thompson River. The highway follows the Thompson into the dry interior grasslands and the city of Kamloops. Your overnight this evening is the Lac Le Jeune Resort. Located in a stunning wilderness setting on the shores of Lac Le Jeune (one of the premier trout fishing lakes in the Pacific Northwest), Lac Le Jeune Resort will provide you with a taste of true Canadiana. A magical place that's soothing, quiet and tranquil. No bothersome telephones and no blaring televisions. A place where fish jump from the glassy surface of the lake, the ospreys soar overhead and the wildlife come to visit.

Day 12 - Lac Le Jeune to Vancouver (362 km/224 mi)

Today join the Coquihalla Highway and climb to an elevation of 1244 metres where over 10 metres of snow can fall in an average winter. You will witness incredible feats of engineering as you travel through the Great Bear snow shed, crossing the Dry Gulch Bridge (over 280 metres long and 175 metres high). Begin descending from the summit pass through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the province. This dramatic change of environment is always exhilarating, as you go from bright sunlight on the high rock faces to misty coastal cedars and tall firs in the space of half an hour. Approaching the Pacific coast, the canyon opens into the broad fertile Fraser Valley. A stop at Minter Gardens in the Fraser Valley is a must! Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 13 - Depart Vancouver

You have one last morning to look around Vancouver before returning your rental car at the airport ready to depart on a scheduled flight from Vancouver to London Heathrow.

Day 14 - Arrive London Heathrow
