Arrive Vancouver

Arrive in Vancouver on your scheduled flight from London Heathrow. Pick up your hertz rental car and drive to accommodation. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 2 -
Vancouver to Ashcroft (350 km/217 mi)

This morning depart Vancouver along the scenic Sea to Ski Highway to Whistler. Highlights along the way include the cascading Shannon Falls and the Stawamus Chief Rock where climbers from all over the globe migrate to climb the granite cliffs. Continue on to Whistler where a stop is a must for a short stroll through this charming alpine resort before continuing on the Duffey Lake Road where you will see breathtaking views of Joffee Glacier. Overnight at the Sundance Guest Ranch.

Day 3 -
Sundance Guest Ranch

Located in British Columbia's high country, with magnificent scenery and clear fresh air - a genuine bit of the old West. A vast choice of horses are available from chestnuts, sorrels, bays, pintos and appaloosas - everything from gentle trail horses to lively, frisky mounts, all with good Western gear.

Day 4 -
Ashcroft to Clearwater (242km / 150 miles)

Today return back to Highway 97 following what was once the old Cariboo Wagon Road to 100 Mile House and see the original Barnard Express BX stagecoach. Then onto Highway 24 renown for the many lakes dotted along the highway. The history of highway 24 follows the historic Bridge Trail, originally used by the Shuswap people as a trade route and was later developed by the Hudson's Bay Company in the early 1800's to bring furs from northern BC out to Fort Kamploops.

Day 5 -
Wells Gray Provincial Park

Today is yours to explore the volcano-shaped wilderness of Wells Gray Provincial Park is worth the detour. Explore the park's mineral springs, serene lakes, dormant volcanos and rushing falls. Not to be missed are the towering Helmcken Falls near the entrance to the park.

Day 6 -
Wells Gray Provincial Park to Jasper (318 km / 198 miles)

Set out for Jasper along the scenic Yellowhead Highway and take in the breathtaking vistas of the steep-walled gorges and crashing falls of the North Thompson River. On your jouney today, perhaps you will get a glimpse of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Leaving British Columbia you enter Alberta and Jasper National Park. Jasper was originally a tent city serving the railway, and now a quaint mountain village.

Day 7 -
Jasper Exploring

Today, explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Take a tram ride up Whistlers Mountain or a boat cruise on Maligne Lake, in the evening soak in the pools at Miette Hot Springs, and watch the sunset over Pyramid and Patricia lakes (not included).

Day 8 -
Jasper to Exshaw - Rafter Six Guest Ranch (342km / 212 miles)

Your scenic drive today takes you through the spine of the Canadian Rockies. View a never ending procession of mammoth mountains, jagged peaks, over 100 glaciers and pristine emerald colour lakes. Along the way see such sights as the Columbia Icefield and take an Ice Explorer ride out onto the glacier (included). Continue on to Exshaw close to Banff National Park. Your destination is Rafter Six Ranch. The sprawling acres of Rafter Six Ranch are nestled at the base of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Day 9 -
Banff Exploring (Banff Gondola)

Today travel the 50km to explore Banff and area. In town you will find lots of excitement - shopping, cafes, nightlife, museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Banff Gondola (included) where you will see a panoramic view of the Bow Valley, and then take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the Upper Hot Springs.

Day 10 -
Exshaw to Revelstoke

Your journey today takes you through some of the mos spectacular stretches of highway in Canada. Follow the Kicking Horse Pass, which takes you to Rogers Pass.

Day 11 -
Revelstoke to Kamloops (Lac Le Jeune Resort)

A short drive beyond Revelstoke you will find Craigellachie, where the "last spike" was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. You are now entering the Shuswap area of British Columbia. With one thousand kilometres (600 miles) of shoreline possesssing 25 marine parks, sandy beaches, private coves and narrow channels, this area deserves it distinction of being "The Houseboating Capital of Canada" Continue onto Kamploops, your overnight this evening is the Lac Le Jeune Resort. Day 12 -
Lac Le Jeune to Vancouver (362 km/224 mi)

Today join the Coquihalla Highway and climb to an elevation of 1244 metres where over 10 metres of snow can fall in an average winter. You will witness incredible feats of engineering as you travel through the Great Bear snow shed, crossing the Dry Gulch Bridge (over 280 metres long and 175 metres high). Begin descending from the summit pass through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the province. This dramatic change of environment is always exhilarating, as you go from bright sunlight on the high rock faces to misty coastal cedars and tall firs in the space of half an hour. Approaching the Pacific coast, the canyon opens into the broad fertile Fraser Valley. A stop at Minter Gardens in the Fraser Valley is a must! Overnight in Vancouver.

Depart Vancouver

You have one last morning to look around Vancouver before returning your rental car at the airport ready to depart on a scheduled flight from Vancouver to London Heathrow.
